Determine mounting location
The Gorilla Locking
Rod Rack may be mounted vertically, horizontally or overhead to any
sturdy surface. Through
bolting with hardware provided is recommended.
For overhead and horizontal applications, the rod support should
be mounted 3 to 4 feet in front of the main body to support the
rod tips. For vertical applications or where mounting space is limited,
the rod support may be mounted 4 to 6 inches below the main body
to provide additional support for the rod butts, thereby preventing
excessive movement while underway.
(3)
Assemble the Rod Support Assembly
Using a 3/32” or
7/64” drill bit, drill screw holes in the bottom (longest) edge of the
Rod Support to secure the 3 Rod Support Mounting Blocks to the Rod
Support. Use (3) of the #6
flathead screws provided.
(4)
TEST FIT AND EASE OF ROD INSERTION / REMOVAL BEFORE INSTALLING YOUR
GORILLA LOCKING ROD RACK!
-
Ensure that there is
ample room in front of the Rod Support and behind the Main Body to
easily insert and remove fishing rods.
-
Ensure that there is
clearance on at least one side of the Main Body to remove Locking Bar
(about 2 inches). Locking
Bar may be inserted and removed from either side.
-
CHECK FIT OF
ROD/REEL in Main Body before installing unit
(5)
Mount the Main Body
Remove the Locking Bar
from the Main Body to expose all 8 mounting holes.
Position the Main Body in the desired location and mark the
location of the mounting holes. Using a 3/16” bit, drill mounting
holes. Mount the Main Body
using the (8) #10 machine screws (2” and 3”) and the (8) washers and
locking nuts.
(6)
Mount the Rod Support Assembly
Note that the Rod
Support Assembly has a left and right side (that is, the rod holes are
not centered on the Rod Support).
Align
the large rod holes on the Rod Support Assembly with the holes in the
Main Body and position the Rod Support Assembly.
With the Rod Support Assembly in position, mark the location of
the (6) mounting holes on the (3) Rod Support Mounting Blocks of the Rod
Support Assembly. Mount the
Rod Support Assembly to the mounting surface with the (6) remaining # 6
flathead screws. If
mounting to fiberglass, a 7/64” bit is recommended.
