Frequently Asked Questions...
Is the
Gorilla Locking Rod Rack difficult to install?
No.
It can be installed easily, and all mounting hardware (for vertical and
horizontal solid-surface mounting) is provided.
The only tools required are a drill, a pencil, a tape measure, a
screwdriver, and a 7/16" wrench. Please see Mounting
and Care for additional instructions.
Where can
the Gorilla Locking Rod Rack be mounted?
By mounting
the rod support approximately 3-4 feet in front of the main body (to
support the rod tips), the Gorilla Locking Rod Rack can be mounted
overhead on t-tops, half towers, cabin ceilings, etc. A
pipe
mounting kit, sold separately, is available for mounting to pipe
structures without drilling or welding.
By mounting
the rod support 4-5 inches below the main body (to support the rod
butts) the Gorilla Locking Rod Rack can be mounted vertically on
transoms, the sides of center consoles, etc.
In addition,
the TR02 series was designed to retrofit many boats' gunwale mounted
racks to have locking capability as
shown here (requires at least 17 3/4 inches of vertical gunwale
space).
Of course, it
can also be mounted on garage walls or ceilings, in truck beds, or on
automobile roof racks - anywhere you might feel uncomfortable leaving
your fishing rods unattended.
Will my
fishing rods fit in the Gorilla Locking Rod Rack?
Virtually all
rods and reels currently available will fit in the Gorilla Locking Rod
Rack.
The Gorilla
Locking Rod Rack for spinning reels (SP04) was designed to accommodate
more than 99% of the rods and reels in current or recent production.
The Gorilla
Locking Rod Rack for trolling reels (TR02) was designed after
extensive study of more than 340 conventional reels, from the smallest
casting reels to large 50-wide class offshore trolling reels. The
only popular reels known not to fit are the Shimano Trinidad 40 and
above (due to the offset external gear box). The rack is not
recommended for 80 lb. class reels and above.
Given the
number of rods and reels available today and the quick pace of new
product offerings from tackle manufacturers, it is STRONGLY recommended
that you check the fit of your gear BEFORE installing the Gorilla
Locking Rod Rack.
How secure
is the Gorilla Locking Rod Rack?
When properly
installed and locked, the Gorilla Locking Rod Rack cannot be removed
from its mounting location, as the mounting hardware is obscured.
The reel cannot be removed from the rod (when the reel clamp, provided
with your reel, is properly installed). And the tough
stainless steel locking bar prevents unauthorized removal of the
rod/reel combination.
Most other
rod holders are plastic - will the durable metal components of the Gorilla
Locking Rod Rack harm the aluminum, graphite, chrome or plastic on my rods
or reels?
The metal
components of the Gorilla Locking Rod Rack are coated in thick, durable
polymers. These specially formulated coatings prevent metal from
touching your rods or reels, minimizing noise, cushioning your gear from
impacts, and inhibiting corrosion of the rack.
Are Gorilla
Locking Rod Rack products warranted against defects of workmanship?
Yes.
Bowline Products is proud to offer a five year limited warranty for
defects in materials or workmanship. Bowline Products, at its sole
discretion, will fix or replace a defective product or will refund your
initial purchase price. Bowline Products' liability is limited to
the cost of the Gorilla Locking Rod Rack and the company will not be
